SnowStorm!

We had the first big snowstorm of the season!
Here are some trees in the front yard – it sure is pretty!
The snow was very deep, even for a TIGER!
While we waited for the roads to get plowed we did indoor things such as replace a 3 x 12 strip of carpeting in the basement. Mom figured it would take a professional about an hour to do so she thought it would take us about 4 hours. We are now 5 hours into it and it still isn’t done. Mom thinks the pros must have a much better utility knife than the one we have and it is very fiddly to change the blades. At least one entire hour has been spent changing the blades in the knife. Mom has only stabbed herself once. We are taking a little break for a few days.

Fireplace Working Great!

Here I am with John from Smith Heating, working on our gas fireplace. It is running great now! John came out a few weeks ago but never got to work on the fireplace because the furnace had some major issues and he spent the day on that. We now have a new furnace and it is also working great!
It is good to have reliable heat because winter is coming or already here depending on your viewpoint. It snowed! And it also gets very cold overnight. Here are some things that have happened recently that mom FORGOT to get pictures of. New furnace being installed. Yasmin had her first visit to the vet and she did great and was brave. Mom got a flu shot. We went to an arts fair and ran into our friends Betty and Dawn. There was a Veteran’s Day potluck at work and mom got a cool tote bag as a gift for being a veteran. Mom made roasted brussel sprouts (ha ha that is a joke, we do not need a picture of Brussel Sprouts!)

Farmers Market Ends

Our local Farmers Market is over for the season. Winter is almost here and the vendors deserve a break! Here is our favorite vegie stand – Tolstoy Farms!
We will miss the amazing fresh and delicious produce!
Here is one of our new foster cats – her name is Felicity, she came from a hoarder and had some medical issues. Almost all her teeth had to be removed! She is petite and has the sweetest face! So far she has not let mom pet her.
Our other new foster cat is orange and white and may be a calico but we have not really seen her yet. She likes to hide in this donut. We’ve seen a little bit of her face and rear end when she is not completely hidden at the back of the donut. When mom leaves treats she eats them shortly after mom leaves the room. So we have hope that she will relax and be friendly eventually.

Grand Coulee Dam!

We went to see the Grand Coulee Dam! It is enormous! This is about half of it! It is the largest hyrdopower producer in the United States and can power 4.2 million homes.
This is the Columbia River on the output side of the dam. It is spectacular!
Along the river there are all kinds of beautiful coves and bays. It is a really great area to explore!
We stopped at Steamboat Rock Park! It was a gorgeous day, sunny and warm. Cold weather is on the way!

Tigger and Leon!

This is Tigger our new foster kitten! Another foster mom named him and it suits him. He is very active and bouncy. The other foster mom had to travel for work so we volunteered to take over!
This is Leon! He is Tigger’s brother. They are about 6-7 weeks old and are doing great!
This is the mama cat; she is super sweet and is doing a super job with the kittens but it is tiring work.
A couple weeks ago we had an overnight guest; this kitty was lost so we offered to put her up for the night. This is what happens when the neighborhood knows you foster cats. Our neighbor Jenn figured out who she belonged to so it was a happy reunion the next day!

A Visit From Cousin Bonita!!!!

OMG the best thing happened !!! Our cousin Bonita came to visit us!!! She is so nice and so fun and so beautiful!
And OMG she brought Cousin Tiger with her!!!!!
We went to the giant red wagon and played!
Mom had some garbage saved up so we went to see the Garbage Goat! Yayyy!
We rode the Looff Carrousel!
There is a new playground I had not been to before! There was a SABER TOOTH CAT ride!!!!
We went to see The Addams Family at the Spokane Civic Theater!!! Our friend David was in the show but mom FORGOT to take a picture!!
On another day we went to Minecraft!! The local museum had an exhibit on Minecraft!
This is an actual cube that is the size of a Minecraft block. They are one meter per side.
Then we went to a farmers market in the area. Mom bought some potatoes and a watermelon – yum!
After that we had lunch at the Mango Tree an Indian restaurant I LOVE Indian food and here I am with Robert our server who was so knowledgeable and super handsome!
Oh wow we also went to the Jundt Art Museum on the Gonzaga campus.
And then we went to the Big Crosby House and Museum you may not know it but Bing Crosby grew up in Spokane! It was a crazy busy fun weekend! Cousin Bonita and Cousin Tiger are super fun!

A Long Bike Ride on a Hot Day!

We went for a long bike ride and had a plan for where we were going but mom took a wrong turn! and we rode down a bumpy gravel road mom said she knew where we were but I’m not so sure. We ended up near some railroad tracks YAY! We ate our snack there while waiting hopefully for a train to go by I LOVE trains.
On the way home (after mom figured out where we were) we stopped at the Northland Rosarium. Look at these amazing dahlias!

A Turnbull Hike!

It rained in the morning but we were headed to Turnbull for a hike anyway! Mom brought her rain jacket but the rain stopped before we got there. Good timing for once!
No more flowers on the wild roses, only rose hips which are the seed pods also considered the fruit and are used in things like jelly and tea.
Water is amazing. Look at these drops of water left on a leaf after the rain.
We saw lots of feathers! Maybe some of the birds are starting to molt. Later in the day after we got home it POURED rain. We need the rain but were happy to not get drenched while hiking.

Hiking on a Hot Day!

We went hiking over the weekend at Kamiak Butte! We were going to get an early start and beat the heat but that didn’t happen. Mom’s excuse: “everything takes longer than I think it will”. You can see that the wheat fields are very dry this time of year!
It was so great to see BLUE sky! The local wildfires have been contained which is a huge relief and most of the smoky air has cleared out.
Today is national Bow Tie day! We could not find my favorite color red bow tie mom says I need to keep my things better organized but really mom FORGOT where she put it.

Historic Houses in Browne’s Addition!

We went to the MAC museum to see the Wyeth exhibit again before it ends, but there was “A Situation” at the museum and no one could go in. So we walked around the neighborhood which is called Browne’s Addition where there are some amazing houses! An hour later some fire trucks came and went but we were still not allowed in the museum and they never told us what was happening it was a secret so we gave up waiting and went grocery shopping.
Some of the houses are really old but still beautifully maintained.
And this house! When we were looking for a house to buy this was one we considered, It’s so gorgeous but we decided not to buy it. Once in a while we drive past it and stop to admire it.
There are several wildfires in the area and LOTS of smoke. We cannot see across the valley. A couple of weeks ago there was a wildfire a few miles away and we were packing getting ready to evacuate but the wonderful fire-fighting planes did a great job and we did not have to leave – whew! Now there is a big fire at Medical Lake and the entire city had to evacuate! Medical Lake is about 20 miles from where we live and I worry about all the wild animals, livestock, and pets. Tigers especially. There was also the devastating wildfire on Maui and it is all so sad.
We have another adult foster cat! Her name is Pigeon which is a silly name for a cat – we are going to think up a better one. But it is funny because we have another foster cat named Birdie!
