Memorial Day Weekend!

Holiday weekends are the best! We went on a long bike ride past neighborhood farms then onto the Cheney-Spokane road. We passed Bradleys Metal Works which looks like a really fun place! There have cool sculptures in the yard!

Then we hooked up with the Fish Lake Trail (that’s a pun!) and then the Columbia Plateau Trail and found there is a wetlands park there!

And finally we made our way into the town of Cheney where Eastern Washington University is. We rode around and looked at the beautiful campus.

On the way home we took Anderson Road which we knew was partly gravel but OMG it was miles of twisty road with lots of up and down and luckily there was hardly any cars because mom was all over the road!  Ha ha ha! Everyone was friendly and waved at us they must not see many bicycles. Mom did good and did not crash the bike.

Then the next day we went back to the Wetlands Park in Cheney and hiked. There were miles of trails and hardly anyone there! There were all kinds of waterfowl and other birds like woodpeckers. I think we saw a Cinnamon Teal, a Hooded Merganser, and a Yellow Headed Blackbird. Here are some photos of the trail and wildflowers.

Also we saw some SNAKES!!  including this gigantic one!!  I am a Tiger I was not scared but mom kept her distance. We think it was a Gopher Snake.

A Chicken!!!

On our weekly bike ride we went somewhere new and we passed Grimmett’s Short Haul railroad OMG we did not even know this existed!  The tracks go around their house and yard. Oh I hope that they let Tigers ride the train when it runs!

Later we passed some property where this sign was on the fence. Most people have Welcome signs but pirates must live here! Maybe they have a pirate ship to play on.

On our way home we stopped for a break at a plant nursery and they had a really cool chicken. We went back today and bought it!!!!  It is bigger than me!

Cows!

When we went for a long bike ride this weekend we passed a lot of cows. Some of the cows were sticking their heads through the fence to eat the grass on the other side!! Ha ha that was funny!! but when we got out the camera they stopped doing that.

Also we passed this really cool fence!

Here is a picture of two kinds of soap mom made recently. Mom read a book about color techniques and on the left are some nice color swirls. Then she tried something more ambitious that turned out pretty ugly on the right. When we saw it mom said that we have not sent soap to Auntie Darcy lately. ha ha!

HORSES!!!!

We went for another bike ride Yayyy!  There are a whole bunch of small farms and ranches near where we live and beautiful country to ride through.

We saw lots of HORSES!  OMG they are so pretty!  I was good and did not scare them I would never do that horses are too majestic. There are two horses in this picture the white one was feeling shy and is behind some trees near my right ear.

In our neighborhood someone has been painting rocks and leaving them along pathways. Other people move them around so if you see one and want a picture you have to take it then because next day the rock may be somewhere else.

We discovered a Little Free Library that we can walk to! We donated a book and took one that looked good. Mom ran out of library books weeks ago so we are very happy to have found this wonderfully cool local free library with a good selection of books.

A Bike Ride!

We  have not been on a bike ride in a long time!  Mom got the bike tuned up and got all the bike gear out. FINALLY we were ready to go!  We rode around the neighborhood and also up the big hill near our house. Boy mom is out of shape!

On Friday there was another neighborhood party!  Ronna texted Joni to spread the word and then Ronna decided Joni’s driveway was bigger and flatter and set up the party there!  Ha ha that was funny!  Lots of people stopped by. It was great!

Here is the special cocktail Joni and Gary were serving. No one wanted any.

Our Great Neighborhood!

We have the best neighbors!  One lady who lives down the street is taking care of her grandson Micah because both his parents are health care workers. For his 6th birthday last week she organized a neighborhood parade!  Lots of people came out with homemade signs and Grandma drove up and down the streets it was awesome!!  But mom FORGOT to take pictures. Here is the sign that we made.

Then later in the week a bunch of our neighbors came out for a sort of block party with wine and BEER but with safe social distancing! I wanted a beer but mom said NO.

This weekend we made soap with different colors and patterns all in the same soap mold. I can hardly wait to see how it looks when we cut it into bars!

Scored some TP !!

It was Mom’s lucky day when we went to the store early on Saturday!  We got TP, kleenex tissues, and paper towels! The TP was an expensive brand but I guess it was worth it. I am a TIGER and TIGERS use the outdoors for their personal business.

Earlier in the week we had a storm with lots of hail and graupel. We had to research what graupel is!!  It is  precipitation that forms when super cooled water droplets are collected and freeze on falling snowflakes. How awesome is that!

Then this morning it snowed!  It is SPRING and it is April but still snowing.

Our friend Mack at work gave us his BEER bread recipe! You have to put in a can of BEER so at the store we bought a Raspberry flavored beer because it has a FOX on the can that is super cute. Also we know from the bread that Mack used to bring to work that the ones made with fruit flavored beer are super yummy delicious. I was all excited about the BEER and I wanted some but when we opened it I’m sorry to say it smelled disgusting. I don’t think beer should be flavored with raspberries. Also mom said NO.

Here is the beer bread after we baked it!  The bread tastes really good it is a little sweet and it is a great way to use that awful smelling beer. Thanks Mack for the recipe!

Car Battery Problems!

On Friday we discovered that the car would not start!  Here is what happened: about a week ago we used the car and when we got home mom dropped the keys in the footwell of the car and turned on the car interior light to find them. Then she FORGOT to turn the light back off and noticed it a day or two later but by then it was too late!  Fortunately our awesome neighbor Gary loaned us his battery charger but mom FORGOT to take a picture of us charging the battery. I suggested we hook it all back up for a photo but mom said No. The next day we went for a long drive to Medical Lake. We did not get out and walk around in case the car didn’t start! We were just charging the battery some more. Dixie and Lars came too, Dixie loves to go for car rides!

Last week it snowed again! It is SPRING by the way!

We went for a long walk this weekend in the woods here are some wildflowers!

Also someone in the neighborhood painted pine cones and left them near the trails!

Sheltering In Place

Mom has been sick so we have not been allowed to go to work. Do not worry, she does not have a fever and is not short of breath it is a bad cold and she is finally getting better.  It is best to Play Quietly when mom does not feel good! We have been working from home and we miss our friends at work!

Today mom felt good enough to go for a walk! The weather is wonderful and sunny and there are lots of walking paths in our neighborhood. Someone wrote helpful and inspirational chalk messages for people who are outside enjoying the Spring sunshine.

A Big Snowstorm!

The first day of Spring is next week but we had a snowstorm come through this weekend. The snow blew into big drifts in some areas and when we filled the bird feeders it was pretty deep snow. Here is the snow coming right up to the front door!

Lots of people are worried about the corona virus and we heard some stores were crazy with people stocking up on things like water and TP. But when we went shopping it looked like there was plenty of stuff to buy except for Top Ramen!  ha ha!

On Friday we just happened to stop at the library and found it was closing that evening for a month as a precaution due to the corona virus. Thank goodness we were there so we had a chance to borrow a big stack of books to get us through the next 4 weeks!  All due dates have been extended and they are even closing the book drops!  I hope everyone out there stays healthy take care of yourselves and your animals!
