Neighborhood Fun!

We live in the Best neighborhood! Our neighbors are awesome. For example on Thursday nights these musicians have a one-hour concert; they have been doing this for months since the pandemic started. They are really good! And handsome!

Here are just some of the people who were enjoying the music.

Friday night was a birthday party for Korben and we had a neighborhood water balloon battle!  It was great!  We came prepared; here I am with our bucket of water balloons.

Ha ha ha it was hilarious! This is some of the people who participated.

OMG the best thing ever happened!  We picked up some foster kittens!  We were waiting for another hospice kitty but the shelter has so many kittens that need foster we decided to take some.  It is a momma cat who is very shy and her 4 kittens. They are about 5 weeks old and are doing great!  They had been at the shelter for about 3 weeks so this was their Best Day Ever being able to run around and play in their own room!

Farm Stand!

On our bike rides we often pass small farm stands like this one that had apples and flowers!  It is important to support your local small businesses.

We rode on some trails a the James Slavin Conservation area! You can hike there or ride horses or ride a bicycle but no motorized vehicles are allowed.

While we had Dexter we put up a temporary plastic folding accordion door so he could have the whole lower floor to run around in. When we installed it we discovered that a LOT of air flows from upstairs to the air handling unit downstairs so mom drilled a bunch of holes in the door for the air to move. Now that we don’t need it mom said hey we only used it a little while do you think we can return it to the store. Ha ha ha!  I don’t think so.

Rest in Peace Dexter

It is sad news today. Our beloved foster cat Dexter crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Here is a picture of him with his favorite chewed up box and cardboard scratcher.

His asthma was getting very bad and the medicine was not doing as much to help him. He was on a higher dose and he continued to get worse. We had to take him to the emergency vet early one morning and less than a week later he had another very bad episode. It was harder and harder for him to breathe and it was difficult for him to get sleep or even relax. He was a great cat and we will always remember his joyful leaps at sunbeams and how he liked to play in the kitty tunnel.

We already miss him a whole lot. The shelter vet observed Dexter for a couple of days to assess him and monitor his respirations and he was just getting worse so he was humanely euthanized. Mom was there to be with him and pet him during the procedure.

It was very peaceful and he is no longer in pain or distress. Rest In Peace sweet handsome Dexter. Also known as Dexter the Drooler for drooling when he was happy and Dexter the Destroyer for his love of chewing cardboard.

Baking Cookies!

July 29 is National Tiger Day!  I asked mom if we could go to Kenya to see my Tiger relatives and she said first of all NO, second of all Tigers do not live in Kenya you are thinking of Lions, thirdly you are from Korea. I said Lions are my relatives too! Mom said how about instead we make Tiger-striped cookies and I said YES please! OMG they turned out great!!!  They taste funny because mom accidentally slopped the vanilla when she was pouring it and put way too much in ha ha!

It is very hot outside in the 90’s and so we put out bowls of water for dogs when they are going for walks. We made a sign so everyone would know it’s not for people.

We got a play tunnel for Dexter!!  He likes paper bags and this is even better! He likes to lay in it and play with his mouse toys and he even fits through the tunnel windows!

Painting The Deck Railing

This weekend we painted the deck railing which was in bad shape. Mom FORGOT to take a before photo. First the old paint got scraped off, then the wood had to be sanded and after about an hour of that mom said let’s go buy a power sander. OMG!! I LOVE power tools! For some reason mom does not like me to use them though. In fact she made me stay in the house the whole time including the painting part!  There were two cans of exterior paint that came with the house and they looked like the right color except the paint on the railing had faded a lot. Then after she opened a can and mixed it up and started painting it looked really red and the railing is brown. Then ha ha ha this is so funny!!! after she was all done and putting the paint away she noticed that the other can was a different color!!!  Instead of “Sun Dried Tomato” she used “Luscious Red” ha ha ha ha! So now the deck railing is two colors.

We found out that Dexter, in addition to having asthma, has kidney damage. So Dr. Beth says he is a hospice cat unless we can find someone who is interested in a Special Needs cat. He gets special food now so his kidneys will last longer. He’s sure a good cat and we are happy to  have him as a guest for the rest of his life.

Dexter Asthma Attack!

Dexter is okay now but he had a scary asthma attack last week and then he had an upset tummy and did not want to eat or drink water. He got to go see the fabulous Dr. Beth at SCRAPS who gave him some anti-nausea medicine, took some blood samples, and altered his medication dosage. Dexter is doing much better now!  Mom was also supposed to give him subcutaneous fluids which she has done many times but says her experience doing that is limited to senior kidney failure cats and sick kittens. Dexter is a strong young adult and was not a willing participant. When mom tried to give him the fluids he was laying on his side and his eyes got big and I have never seen a cat levitate before. It was pretty funny to watch the fluids spraying around the room like a loose fire hose. Mom got wet ha ha!   Here is me and Dexter today.

The best thing happened!! On our weekend bike ride it was so amazing OMG we saw these beautiful women riding beautiful horses !!!  They stopped so we could get their picture it was great!  Mom FORGOT to get their names and the names of their horses.

We also saw a herd of goats!  and got their picture!  We did not get their names either.

4th of July Weekend!

Mom thought our foster cat Dexter might like a paper bag. Here it is after 2 days.

At work someone brought mom flowers because she brings handmade soap with pumice in it for the weld shop and they like it much better than store-bought soap.

For our weekend bike ride we went past the Slavin Conservation area. It is so beautiful! We have hiked there before but this is a different part of the park.

We rode past another Little Library!!!  I love these!

Here is a wheat field that goes on and on as far as the eye can see!

This is my weekly horse picture. We also saw cows and goats and a PIG!

A New Foster Cat!

Dexter is our new foster cat!  He is getting meds and we have to monitor his respiration, the vet thinks he has asthma!  He is very handsome and sweet. He is missing most of one ear!  but he does not seem to mind at all.

At work David brought fresh cherries from trees in his yard Tigers LOVE cherries!

The library is open for curbside pickups YAYYYYYY!  This makes mom very happy which is a good thing for the rest of us. Select a date and time for pickup and the library assigns you a parking space, then they bring what you borrowed to your car!!

Here are some pictures from our weekend bike ride. There was a railroad crossing out in the middle of the country on a gravel road!  I suggested we wait for a train to go by which would have made a great photo but mom said No.

Look at these awesome rolls of  hay!

Here is my weekly horse photo. These two are good friends.

First Day of Summer!

Saturday was the first day of Summer!  It rained. But we had fun anyway we went to the garage sale our awesome neighbors John and Jamie were having. Jamie is super nice and so beautiful !!  and John is handsome but not quite as handsome as me. They have the best dog!  His name is Odie and he is so friendly and leans against you.

Our other wonderful neighbors Ronna and Cathy also had a garage sale they are moving oh NO!  We will miss them a lot they are wonderful people. Ronna is so gorgeous and super duper nice and knows almost everyone in the neighborhood. She is showing me a holiday tree that she thought we should buy but mom said No. Instead she bought some wineglasses but she doesn’t even let me drink wine.

On our bicycle ride this weekend we rode through the town of Marshall which has about 20 houses – a very small town!  But they have a post office it is so cute!

Later we rode through an area called the Valley Of The Horses!!!!  We saw lots of horses and cows too. Mom said we have enough horse pictures but I talked her into taking more. If this was my horse I would name it Socks!

It was a great ride through beautiful countryside and farms.
