There are devastating fires in Spokane right now it is really awful we are so sad. We are okay! We are not in any of the evacuation zones! There are 4 separate fires and 3 of them have grown to make one very large complex fire. A lot of the area is forest and agricultural but it also includes a lot of residential areas and thousands of people have had to evacuate. It is just awful. t looks like half of North Spokane has had to evacuate. We may have friends coming to stay with us because they had to evacuate. As of this morning the California Interagency Incident Management Team 7 is assuming command of the Spokane Area Fires; so far the fires are zero percent contained. Our Spokane firefighters are doing an amazing job but it was extremely windy yesterday which caused the fires to expand very rapidly.On a lighter note, we have caught the turkeys red-handed! Red-footed! Digging in our flower beds! They look so innocent but they are not!
The screen capture of the extent of the fires is mind-boggling. I can barely imagine how the people who have lost their homes already and those directly impacted so far are handling the devastation, and what the future might be for them. And I know it’s not over yet. I truly hope your friends are spared the worst of the destruction.
