New Gutters!

We had VERY COLD weather!!! Here you can see it is minus 2 degrees and this is in the valley near where we live. It is colder up on the ridge where our house is. One of our neighbors has an outdoor thermometer and he told us it was minus 15 one day!
At work some snow melted off the roof and landed on tree branches where it froze. This is mom’s artsy photo of the frozen water. No one has sat at the picnic table lately ha ha!
Here I am with JP and Nick who came out on one of the VERY COLD days to replace our gutters. They said they work outside year round and did not even want to come inside to get warm. They are both super handsome and nice and did a great job we highly recommend them.
It has warmed up thank goodness I am a Tiger with a fur coat but even I have been staying indoors a lot. Now we are getting lots of snow – yippee! It is a Winter Wonderland!

We’ve got SNOW!

It snowed quite a bit last week so we had to get up early some days to snovel snow before work. This weekend it was time to shovel the deck. The snow is light and fluffy! There was some melting so it is icy underneath in spots.
Here is one of the piles in the front yard. I am the Tiger King of the snow pile!
It has also been pretty cold so it is a good time to do indoor things like a jigsaw puzzle. We are also watching some episodes of Game of Thrones! We have our favorite characters. Me and mom both like The Hound; he’s an independent thinker and down to earth and tells it like it is. I really like the dragons! It would be cool if there were Tigers on the show too. Fire breathing Tigers!

New Car!

We bought a new car! It is a Subaru same as our previous car which mom still misses a lot. The old one had a manual transmission and was great for driving up and down hills in the snow. The new car has paddle shifters so it can mimic a gearshift and slow the car down on a hill but it’s not the same as real gears with torque or whatever.
The new car has a moonroof that at first mom did not want (just another thing to break) but now we love it! This car has all kinds of safety features such as imminent collision braking and blind spot detection; it has dozens of computers and a bunch of cameras. We are still getting used to it! Here are things we have learned, in some cases the hard way. When you go to the car wash you should put the car in neutral; if you can’t lock the car when you leave it is because the engine is still running; and you don’t need to get the key fob out to lock the car you can just touch the little indicator on the door handle.

Happy Joyous Holidays from the Snowy Moose Mountain!

We’ve been hiking and showshoeing at Mount Spokane this week!
The higher you climb the deeper the snow gets.
It’s so beautiful in the forest a winter wonderland!
OMG we saw a moose! She was coming right down the trail towards us and mom quickly moved us off the trail into the snow which was very deep then the moose also got off the trail so we got back on the trail and said nice moose thanks for sharing the trail.
We see moose in our neighborhood and our yard sometimes but it’s different seeing them out in the woods! Especially when they are so close they are very big animals. It was very exciting and a wonderful Christmas present! Happy Holidays everyone!

Snow of course

We had snow a couple of times! It makes it so pretty outside and is fun for a Tiger to play in!
I like when it snows but mom is not as excited about it anymore. The weather has warmed up and it rains instead and mom says that is fine with her.
I talked mom into opening one of the Christmas presents from Auntie Darcy and it is an awesome paper garland from Dia De Los Muertos! I love it! Auntie Darcy was in Mexico City during the Day of the Dead celebration and had a great time.

Moose!

There were some moose at the bottom of our hill near the pond!!! Including a BULL moose we have never seen one with antlers in our neighboorhood before! We did not stop to get a picture because there were cars lining the road and a cop car had arrived and we figured the cops would tell everyone to move along but they were driving really slow so they probably just wanted to see the mooses too. Here I am photoshopped into a picture of a bull moose.
We got some holiday presents from cousin Nicolyn and Auntie Darcy! Some are wrapped in cartoons oh boy that is awesome! I told mom we should open them all now so I can read the cartoons but she said No.
Here are my last photos from our San Franciso trip. We went to see the famous seal lions along the waterfront where there are special docks for the sea lions to sun themselves but also stay off the docks where boats want to park. There were not any sea lions that day!
But there were people sunning themselves on the special benches for people to stay off the docks where the boats want to park while they wait for the sea lions to show up.

Golden Gate Park!

While in San Francisco we spent a day at Golden Gate Park! Here I am with some giant lily pads in a water garden inside the Conservatory which was totally amazing! I highly recommend it!
This is a pond in the San Franciso Botanical Garden – also highly recommended. There was so much to see and for a Tiger it was good to have room to run around.
And this is at the Japanese Tea Garden where it was all so lovely and peaceful. All the gardens were different and unique and so interesting! Mom got in free to them all because she is a veteran – what a great thing that San Francisco cares about veterans!
Then we went to the California Academy of Sciences where there were PENGUINS omg I love PENGUINS!!!! We watched and watched them and came back at feeding time OMG and there was a biologist who gave a talk and answered questions it was the highlight of my day!
There was a ton of other things to see at the Academy of Sciences like a big aquarium and a rainforest that you could walk through all the levels and lots of other cool and interesting exhibits it was awesome! And I found some friends in the gift shop!

San Franciso – Chinatown!

Chinatown in San Franciso is the largest Chinatown outside Asia and is also the oldest Chinatown in North America! We had a blast visiting! There was so much to see!
This the the fortune cookie factory. We thought it would be an enormous factory but it is two ladies making cookies! They work so fast I could not bend the cookies fast enough with my paws.
Mom bought us a vegan Mooncake! I was not sure I would like it I wanted the pork one but mom was buying it mostly for herself (!) but it was delicious! Very interesing lotus flower flavor.
We also visited the Palace Hotel in downtown San Franciso. It is famous and many famous people have stayed here and the hotel has also been featured in movies. They let us in so we could walk around and even use the bathroom! It was a very nice bathroom.
Here is another picture of the Palace Hotel. It was beautiful and snazzy!!!

San Francisco Part 2

We went to the Hyde Street Pier! Where there are all kinds of historically important ships and boats! Auntie Darcy and mom sweet talked their way in at the entrance and did not have to pay (actually they were only asking about discounts and reeling off all their possible statuses such as almost a senior).
Here I am on the Balclutha a three masted square rigger built in 1886!
That is a lot of rigging!
This is part of two exhibits at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art! An Alexander Calder sculpture in front of the Living Wall, designed by David Brenner Principal and Lead Designer of Habitat Horticulture.
And here I am with Auntie Darcy in the color tunnel by Olafur Eliasson! The tunnel is so cool!!! It looks different at different times of day, different angles, and which way you are walking through the tunnel. Further back in a gallery you can see part of a very large sculpture by Yayoi Kusama. We had a blast at the art museum!

San Francisco Visit – OMG!!!!

We went on a trip to San Francisco!!! And met Auntie Darcy there!!! OMG!!!
We rode the cable cars all the time it was so much fun!!! The place we stayed was near multiple cable car lines and it was so handy to get up and down the hills. I am a Tiger I do not mind running up and down hills but it made mom tired so we rode the cable cars a lot.
Here I am at the Cable Car Museum! Which is inside the PowerHouse for the cable cars and you can see the big motors and gearboxes and sheaves that move the cables. It is amazing and super interesting! If you visit San Francisco I highly recommend it!
Oh wow we went to see The Golden Gate Bridge!!! Here it is from a distance.
We walked on the bridge! It is noisy and not really much fun. Here is the bridge close up but it is kind of fuzzy.
Here the bridge is clearer but I am all fuzzy. Stay tuned for more posts about the trip!
