Blueberries!

We went Blueberry picking!!! Piper Farms has the best blueberries!
Even though there can be lots of cars in the parking lot the farm is so big it is eay to have lots of rows to yourself! We could not even see many other people but we could hear them. One lady had a phone that rang a lot and it had a cool souding song for a ring tone. Also there were a group of women picking blueberries and were talking in a different language and they were having such a good time and laughing and we wished we could understand what they were saying!
We went hiking at Turnbull Wildlife Refuge!!! We have not been there in a long time! The ponds were really full of cattails which give birds lots of good places to hide and hang out. It was a great weekend!

Bar Stools and Shady Garden

We have not been having many adventures lately because mom has working on some projects around the house. We bought these cool bar stools at a thrift store for $14.99 each! They are solid wood! When we got them home and started to clean them up mom decided they needed to be refinished. So she proceeded to spend about 8 hours sanding them with 3 kinds of sandpaper, bought wood stain, polyrethane, brushes, a special cheescloth thing to apply the stain, more brushes, more sandpaper… It look three coats of polyurethann not sure how to spell poliiyurethan with guess what more Sanding between each coat. Between all the supplies and our time these barstools are now worth about $500 each. Mom says we will never do a furniture refinishing project ever again!
This is our Shady Garden project that is still in progress. Mom was thinking about hiring someone to remove all the sod but then decided to do it herself. So most weekends we are out here cutting the sod, digging it up, removing the dirt, moving the sod around to dry out, and finally putting it in the yard waste bin. Then the fun part starts – putting in plants that love the shade!
OMG – a couple weeks ago we were walking around the yard and saw two baby birds laying on the ground! They did not have feathers yet and their eyes were closed they were really small and fragile and we looked and looked and finally after about half an hour we found the nest they fell out of. Mom put on gloves and carefully put them back in the nest. Then we checked on them every couple of days and they were doing great! The Mom Bird was obviously feeding them and sometimes from a distance we could see her coming and going to the nest and the chicks got big and strong and one day the nest was empty – they had fledged! Normally you should leave the nest alone but mom was worried that the nest was in a poor location and some other animal might be trying to steal the chicks. I am a Tiger but I would never do that. But maybe a Wild Tiger who was really hungry might.

Visit to see a PONY that did not happen!

Mom’s friend Aaron’s horse had a baby and he invited mom to go see it! This picture is not of Aaron’s horse and pony, it is a photo of a different friends horse and pony I guess this is the season for ponies to be born! Anyway Aaron and mom finally agreed on a good weekend for the visit but did not pick a specific time and then they both got busy at different times and we never did get to visit. And now the pony has been moved to a different property with hundreds of acres where it can learn to live with other ponies. So we won’t be able to visit for a while.
We have a new set of foster kittens! This is DQ who is crazy energetic and does not sit still for cuddling for very long!
Here is Wendy! So cute and fluufy and loves to wrestle with DQ.
This is Marshmallow ha ha that is a funny name! She is very cuddly and adorable.
Sonic is the only boy in the group and at first he really missed his mom and wanted mom to hold him all the time. He would climb up onto her shoulder and try to snuggle in her hair! Now he is bigger and more interested in playing. Mom is glad about that.

Spring Garden!

Something went wrong with the broccoli. At first they looked sad and pathetic so mom gave them some fertilizer and it must have been the wrong kind that made them flower and not produce any broccoli ha ha! That is fine with me I am a Tiger a carnivore.
The snap peas are also not doing so great. Mom bought a different brand of seeds this year and most of them did not sprout. Good thing there is a grocery store nearby where we can buy food.
There are lupines growing wild in the field behind our house!
Here is the border we have been working on for a few years; there are plants that flower at different times so there is usually something pretty to look at!
Auntie Paula went on a trip to Hawaii and sent us a care package of cool stuff and yummy things from both Hawaii and Idaho! Including an awesome flower suncather she made for mom!

ArtFest!

We went to the ArtFest put on by the Spokane Museum of Art & Culture! It was Super Fun! With some really terrific art and artists!
Here I am with Samba who is an amazing weaver from Sierra Leone! He is using elephant grass from his home country to make baskets that he weaves by hand it is really incredible he can weave so fast! Sometimes he also dyes the grass using natural ingredients like plant roots. Samba was really nice and super handsome but not quite as handsome as me/
This is the basket we bought from Samba it is so beautiful and is the Perfect Size for a Little TIGER! Notice that I have a bead necklace made by Samba’s wife and also a piece of the elephant grass that has been twisted into a thin rope.
There was live music at the festival too! This is Spokane Taiko; they perform Japanese-style Taiko drumming it was awesome!
We have new foster kittens!!!! This is Cami and she has beauticul cinnamon-colored swirls through her fur! She was really unsociable at first and didn’t want anything to do with mom but now Cami likes petting and cuddling and being picked up.
And this is Vixen who has a face that reminds us of a fox. She is smaller and younger than Cami even though they arrived together in the same group of kittens, and Vixen would not eat at first so mom had to syringe-feed her for a few days. Now she eats like a champ and is gaining weight fast! It is so fun to have foster kittens again!

Springime News!

Spring is here! We went to one of our favorite plant nurseries the Northland Rosarium where they have about a million roses!
We have to mow the grass a lot this time of year! Plus do lots of other work in the yard.
We have a new foster cat! We named her Emmaline. She came from a very bad hoarding situation where there were dozens of cats living in a house with garbage piled everywhere. Poor kitty! She was scared at first and hid a lot but now she has gained confidence.
We also got a new clothes dryer! The old one would either run endlessly and never turn off or would not heat. We first called an appliance repair company and the nice tech told us it was a bad relay on the control board, and it would keep getting worse. The replacement board was not cheap and the service manager recommended we buy a new dryer since more things would start to break on the old one and a new one would not cost much more than fixing the old one. We LOVE the new dryer! It does not play an annoying boop-doop-a-doop jingle when it is done drying like the old one did that we could never figure out how to turn off.

Sightseeing in Boise!

While visiting Boise we saw lot of cool stuff! We walked along the Boise River!
Here I am at the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights where there is an Anne Frank Memorial. It is a great place to visit and read the inspiring quotes and to sit and comtemplate.
This is me with Auntie Paula at the Idaho State Capital! Wow, they let us just walk in and look around and go up and down the different floors marvelling at the amazing arkitekt   arkitechtur  building and all the marble!
OMG we ate at some really great restaurants but mom FORGOT to get photos! Here is a photo of empty plates at a restaurant where we had a delicious lunch.
We saw a TIGER at the Boise Zoo! She is so pretty and is probably a cousin of mine. It’s so good to see long-lost relatives!

Visit to Boise!!!!!!

OMG!!! We went to Boise to visit Mom’s friend Paula! They had lost touch for a long time and had not seen each other in over 40 years! It was an amazing trip and we got to fly in the plane that belongs to Paula and her husband Kevin OMG!!!! They are both super nice and Paula is gorgeous and Kevin is very handsome but not quite as handsome as me.
Here I am in the co-pilot seat before we took off! Mom got to sit here and I sat in her lap. We got a special safety briefing so we would know what to do in an emergency and which buttons to push to do things like put the plane in auto-pilot and how to deploy the emergency parachute.
This is me and Kevin doing the preflight checklist. Kevin was a fighter jet pilot in the Air Force WOW that is an important job! Now he flies for business and for fun so this plane is not a fighter jet.
Here we are in the air and flying over mountains!!!! It was spectacular! Mom was excited and nervous but I was brave I am a Tiger. Then Kevin let mom fly the plane for a couple of minutes and make some turns!!!! OMG that was scary and I was happy when Kevin took back the controls.
It was a super awesome BEST DAY EVER thank you Paula and Kevin! Mom we should totally get a plane.

Mt. Spokane Hike!!!

We had a great day hiking in the snow at Mt. Spokane!
The snow was melted off the trees but there is still lots of snow on the ground! Behind me is Mt. Spokane and we are on the trail to Mt. Kit Carson.
At Saddle Road junction we met Kiraen (I hope I am spelling that right) and her her awesome dog Shasta! Shasta is the best dog ever and is a perfect outdoor adventure buddy! Kiraen was gorgeous and super nice and let us pet Shasta who was sooooo soft! Mom we should totally get a dog.

A Turnbull Hike!

We have not hiked at the Turnbull Wildlife Refuge in ages! Here I am at a pond where it is iced over. The snow is all melted! We are having weird warm weather!
It looks and almost feels like summer because it gets to about 60 degrees during the day that is why the snow is all gone. We saw more people on the trails than we have ever seen here – about 8 people! Everyone was happy to be outside in the sunshine!
Look at this super dino truck we saw for sale at the local grocery store!! It is perfect for our yard dinosaurs! We are going to have a lot of fun with this.
