Making Scarves!

Here is the first scarf all finished! We learned a lot doing this and made lots of mistakes. Mom especially is good at making all kinds of mistakes.
OMG!! then mom surprised me she made me a scarf of my very own!! This was the second scarf she weaved and she made it for me!!!! It is red my favorite color and she says the yarn came from France! Oh la la! I feel like I should have a beret too! I take back what I said about how she makes so many mistakes.
Here is the one we are working on this weekend. We watched some videos of weaving and some weavers are amazing! One lady was weaving really intricately designed bath towels with many colors and beautiful designs. If someone gave you a hand-woven bath towel like that you would hang it on the wall, not use it to dry yourself off!

The Loom is Here!

Our Ashford Loom arrived! It is so cute and beautiful! We had to assemble it. Mom would not let me use the hammer. I do not know why she keeps some tools away from me.
When we bought the yarn from Paradise Fibers Ellie mentioned rolling it into a ball. Apparently the beautiful twist is done for shipping and storage but is not good for when you want to use it. One of the cats was very interested in the yarn while mom rolled it into a ball!
Here we are weaving our first scarf!!!!! The video says we can make a scarf in about 2 hours. HA HA HA HA HA! No way! It took more than that for mom to set up the warp and weave the first couple of inches! Then she figured out the scarf had to move forward more onto the front roller. Now it is going much better! Also, we picked two kinds of beautiful blue yarn but they are close in color so there is not much of a contrast. We are learning a lot with this first project.
Here is one of our foster cats. Her name is Panther. She was very unsociable at first and really hated mom. But mom kept wrapping her in a towel and cuddling her and telling her “We are going to be friends whether you like it or not” and now Panther is friendly and loves lap time. Now instead of being a barn cat she can be a pampered house cat!

Snow and Ice!

Wow there was a lot of snow last week and most of it came down in less than 24 hours!
Here is what one of our trees looked like! A Winter Wonderland!
We had to shovel so much snow! The piles of snow got really big! Our wonderful neighbor Gary brought his snow blower named “Big Boy” to clear out the enormous berm made by the city snow plows.
We went to a Paradise Fibers where they sell all kinds of supplies for fiber arts like knitting, Because mom bought a loom for weaving! The loom has not been delivered yet but we wanted to get some yarn so we’ll be ready. The is me with Ellie who was super helpful and super beautiful! She gave mom so much advice, suggestions and help that we left with information overload! you can tell that Ellie loves Tigers!

Happy New Year 2022!

The day before Christmas we had some moose come and visit us! Here is a picture of Momma Moose.
And here is her baby who is looking enormous!
For Christmas we went spent the afternoon with our wonderful neighbors Gary and Joni ! The roads were icy so some other friends did not join us. More food for me!! Gary is very handsome and Joni is super beautiful and they are both the nicest people ever.
It has been very cold for over a week, the temperature did not get above 20 degrees. One night it got close to zero!! Here you can see one morning it was 13 degrees while we were in the car. Brrrrrr!
We spent New Years Eve shoveling snow. Yippee! Happy New Year everyone!
